            TESTIMONIALS

Kimberly loves her job as a nurse at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. As a nurse she knows, “You have to listen to your body.” That’s why, when she began having shortness of breath, she went to the doctor. She was referred to the Bon Secours Chest and Lung Institute where it was discovered, through the use of a high-contrast MRI, she had nodules on her lung. After a consultation with Dr. Dunton, it was decided that exploratory surgery was necessary. She remembers, “They had my best interest at heart.”

Thanks to the innovations pioneered at Columbia University’s College of Physician and Surgeons, and Bon Secours Chest and Lung Institute, Dr. Dunton performed Kimberly’s procedure using state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques. Through a small 2-inch incision, he located and removed five suspicious nodules from Kimberly’s right lung. “The lung masses were negative for cancer which was a blessing,” Kimberly recalls.

The thing that Kimberly remembers the most was the care she received. “I was in awe... the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff really impressed me. I knew I was in good care... they treated me like I was family.” She was also impressed by the accommodations. “It was more like your bedroom at home than a hospital room.”

In Kimberly’s own words, “I’m back to 100%.” She’s also returned to her job as a nurse at Bon Secours Maryview with a new mission. “I’m determined to give back what I got...  compassionate, personalized care.”
