EMPLOYEE GIVES FROM THE HEART

Jennifer Smith began working at Bon Secours Maryview 26 years ago. She credits the hospital with giving her the opportunity to grow professionally by continually challenging her potential. As Bon Secours Maryview’s Director of Cardiovascular Services, Jennifer’s latest project is leading the team behind the Bon Secours-Columbia University Heart Institute. According to Ms. Smith, “This initiative is not just about open heart surgery, it’s about developing health care in our community to the level of a regional medical center serving Western Hampton Roads.”

Ms. Smith believes in the mission of Bon Secours Maryview and the importance of its presence in the community. “The impact of the Heart Institute will affect services well beyond our cardiac and vascular services. It will have an effect on the overall quality of health care in our community,” she said.

She supports the Foundation through the annual Gala, Employee Campaign and the “Building Healthier Communities” capital campaign, believing that her support – and that of every employee -- makes a difference.
