James J. Stark, MD
Maryview Medical Center is a special place for people with
cancer. The physicians, nurses and support staff have a
special place in their hearts for these patients and are
truly committed to patient care. They take the Bon Secours
mission very seriously, and it shows. We get to know the
patients and their families very well, to the point where
we know them by their voice.
The oncology program offers the perfect combination of head
and heart and is a marvelous place for those with cancer
to receive treatment. We take a nurturing approach to cancer
and focus on the psychological, spiritual and physical well
being of the patients. We offer a wonderful combination
of high-tech medical equipment and technology and hands-on,
compassionate care that you can’t find at other institutions.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is an extremely important and integral part
of the oncology program, and patients are relieved to find
them as part of their care team. They play an active role
in patient care, from diagnosis, through treatment and recovery.
I have never been in a place where the pastoral care programs
gets as involved in patient care as they do at Maryview.
Education
People are ultimately responsible for their own healthcare,
but it is our responsibility to make sure patients are fully
educated about their health. There is an ongoing commitment
to education by this institution.
