A sleep disorder is a disruption in normal sleep patterns.
Research is finding that physical and psychological problems
can be caused by the lack of sleep and other sleep disorders.
Over 80 disorders of sleeping and waking result in diminished
quality of life and personal health. And, more than one-third
of all adults cannot get a good night's sleep.
Sleep disorders can lead to potentially serious, even life-threatening
medical problems. In fact, billions of dollars and thousands
of lives are lost each year due to accidents related to sleep
disorders.
At Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center, our Sleep Lab is a
medical facility designed to evaluate people with sleep disturbances
or with sleep-related problems. The lab offers a variety of
diagnostic and treatment services for both acute and chronic
sleep disorders.
