Maryview Joint Center
Joint Replacement Joint replacement restores worn out joints- usually the result of degenerative arthritis- with new, smooth surfaces. This corrective measure is typically used when other conservative treatments- such as physical therapy, medications and injections- have failed to alleviate pain. Joint replacement can provide many benefits including dramatic pain relief and the ability to return to an active lifestyle.
Every Step of the Way, We're There for You You can feel confident in the care you'll receive at the Maryview Joint Center. Our program and dedicated unit have been specially designed for joint replacement patients. Our comprehensive, coordinated approach to joint replacement ensures you get the care and support you need through the entire process- not just the surgery. From pre-operative education to post-operative care and in-home recovery, we're right there with you.
Education Program Your journey to recovery begins with our extensive education program. At Bon Secours, we recognize education as a vital component of rapid recovery. That is why we offer the support and the knowledge you need in our pre-operative class. You will receive a notebook that walks you through joint replacement and recovery. Members of our Joint Care Team will address your questions and concerns. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.
Home Health Evaluation Upon request by your physician, a physical therapist from the Bon Secours Home Health team will meet with you in your home to demonstrate proper use of a walker or cane, outline your exercise program and perform a home safety assessment. Please ask your physician if you could benefit from this service. To arrange, call 889-4663.
Your Stay at the Joint Center
At Maryview, we strive to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. Your stay at the Joint Center will include a large private room with your own bathroom, television and recliner chair.
Our Program The Joint Center is a unit designed exclusively for joint replacement patients. A team of specially trained nurses, therapists and other caregivers work together to ensure all your recovery needs are met. They also work closely with the anesthesia department to assure your recovery is as comfortable as possible.
Our Portside Room Recovering with the Joint Center offers you and your family the chance meet others undergoing the same healing process. The Portside Room is a designated area for joint replacement patients to attend group exercise classes. Here you work with the support of others with the same goal: to return to a more active lifestyle as quickly as possible.
Our Surgical Team Your surgeon works with our experienced Joint Care Team in specialized operating rooms that feature modern orthopedic equipment.
Our Physical Therapy Team During your stay at the Joint Center, both physical and occupational therapists will work together to help you get back on your feet. They focus on techniques that will help you on the road to a quick recovery.
The Next Step When you leave the hospital, our outstanding medical care follows you. No matter what the next step, physical therapy continues. Whether its outpatient physical therapy, home health care or rehabilitation, your therapy is an important component of the healing process. That's why we're there to help you through it.
