Morrisette Hired as Risk Manager for Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center

Norfolk, Va. (May 05, 2008) – Carla M. Morrisette has been hired as the risk manager for Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. She brings extensive experience in medical claims and risk management to this position.
Before joining Bon Secours DePaul, Morrisette had served as vice president and senior claims analyst with Claims and Consulting, Inc, since 1995. In this capacity, she managed medical malpractice/professional liability and general liability claims for Sentara Healthcare, for insurance companies and independents, and for city municipalities. From 1971 to 1995, Morrisette was the senior technical supervisor and resident supervisor of the Norfolk office for Travelers Insurance Company. Among other duties, she coordinated the nationwide medical malpractice and general liability programs for a large nursing home chain.
Morrisette was named Virginia Claims Person of the Year in 2004, as well as Hampton Roads Claims Person of the Year in 1987, 2001 and 2004. She is a past president of the Hampton Roads Claim Association, and also served as the group’s chairman for community services, membership, directory and scholarship. Morrisette is also a member of the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management (VASHRM) and the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM). She is a member of the Virginia State Claims Association and has served as chairman of membership, scholarship, convention exhibits and Convention 2000 for this organization.
She holds an associate’s degree from Robert Morris College and earned a Casualty Claims Law Associate designation from the American Educational Institute, Inc.
