Getting to know your Healthcare Team
We take a team approach to your health care and The Hernia Center team includes many specialists who help with all aspects of your care. In the weeks before your surgery, at the hospital and when you return home, you will come in contact with many members of your healthcare team, including:
Surgeon: Your surgeon is the doctor who performs the actual hernia repair surgery and is responsible for your overall health during your hospital stay and following your surgery.
Anesthesiologist: Your anesthesiologist is the doctor who administers anesthesia during your surgery, monitors your vital signs during and after your surgery, and oversees your post-surgical pain control.
Primary Care Physician: Your primary care physician, or family practitioner, takes care of your general health. He or she may perform your pre-op physical.
Care Team: Before and during your hospital visit, you will meet a number of nurses who will care for you.
Pastoral Care: The hospital chaplains at Mary Immaculate Hospital are trained to meet your spiritual needs, and those of your family, regardless of religious denomination.
