Second Annual Medical Symposium
Options in the Interventional Management of Heart Disease
Program Goals & Objectives
Overall Goals
Improvements and advancements in the surgical and interventional treatment of acquired and congenital cardiovascular disease, in combination with prevention and medical therapy have realized measurable success in the improvement of quality of life, and longevity in patients with cardiac disease. This course will focus primarily on the interventional and surgical approaches to the spectrum of cardiovascular disease amenable to these innovative treatment modalities.
This symposium is a one-day educational event that will guide the practitioner through the state-of-the-art interventional management of cardiac disease. The program is designed to encourage interaction with the faculty through panel discussions and question and answer sessions.
Goals are to:
- Provide up-to-date information on current surgical standards of care for patients with ischemic heart disease, valvular disease, and congenital heart disease
- Discuss recent advances, trials and studies in the treatment of heart failure and assisted circulation
- Discuss the management of atrial fibrillation in the post-procedure heart patient
- Discuss the clinical and diagnostic tools in the recognition and interventional management of congenital heart disease in the adult
- Present the diagnostic, interventional and surgical options in neonates with congential heart disease
- Provide data to allow objective decision-making regarding the care of patients with ischemic heart disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and congenital heart disease
Learning Objectives
At the completion of the program, participants will have:
- improved understanding and familiarity, and up-to-date information on current interventional and surgical care of patients with ischemic heart disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and congenital heart disease
- gained insight into the latest developments in treatments for ischemic heart disease, heart failure, and congential heart disease
- improved knowledge to assist with objective decision-making regarding the interventional options, their inherent complications, and contraindications, and expected outcomes in these patient populations
