Junior Volunteer Program at Mary Immaculate Hospital

The Junior Volunteer program at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital starts in June and finishes in August. It is very important that applicants think carefully about how much time they are able to give during the summer. We ask for four hours of your time each week during the summer. Think about time needed for family vacations, band, sports, employment, and other commitments. Please read over the policies and procedures (.doc) and make sure you are able to meet the requirements before completing the application.

what are the requirements for the Junior Volunteer program?

  • Applicants must be 14 years old by June 1, 2012
  • All paperwork must be filled out completely and returned to Volunteer Services no later than April 15, 2012
  • Applicants should have at least a 2.0 GPA/C average
  • Volunteers must committ to volunteer at least 4 hours per week for 8 weeks
  • Applicants must attend a mandatory orientation on June 15, 2012

If you are invited to participate in the Junior Volunteer program, it is hospital policy that you attend the Junior Volunteer orientation, have one PPD test (tuberculosis skin test) completed before orientation, and a second PPD test completed within 2 weeks of starting.

volunteer policies

Acceptance and placement is determined by the discretion of the Volunteer Department after a personal interview and the review of teacher recommendation forms. There are many volunteer opportunities in various departments throughout the hospital and not all include working with patients. There are no hands-on positions for volunteers.

If you have any questions about our program or its policies please contact our Volunteer Manager.
